Hair Loss
Hair loss is a common condition in the UK, affecting millions of women and men. It can occur due to various factors, including genetics, age, hormonal changes, stress, poor nutrition, medication and underlying health conditions.
The commonest form of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, often referred to as male or female pattern baldness. This type of hair loss is primarily genetic and influenced by hormones. In women, it usually manifests as diffuse thinning on the top of the scalp, and the hairline largely remains intact. In men, it usually presents as a receding hairline and thinning at the crown, leading to partial or complete baldness. Early intervention often improves the chances of preserving hair.
Plinest Hair is a type of polynucleotide treatment available at The Bloom Clinic, which is used for hair loss, primarily because of its regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties. The key component, polynucleotides, are chains of nucleotides (the building blocks of DNA and RNA) that have been shown to have various biological benefits when applied to the scalp.
Plinest Hair can help treat hair loss through regenerating damaged hair follicles, reducing inflammation around hair follicles and creating a more favourable environment for hair growth, encouraging hair follicles to enter the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle which helps to slow down or reverse hair thinning, stimulating blood circulation in the scalp providing more nutrients and oxygen to hair follicles enabling better growth, and stimulating collagen production within the scalp tissue, strengthening it for hair growth.
The Bloom Clinic offers Plinest Hair for patients concerned about female pattern or male pattern balding (androgenetic alopecia) who would like to improve hair coverage of the scalp. Plinest Hair works better on earlier signs of hair loss, but if you are unsure, please book a consultation with us. The treatment is administered through tiny superficial injections into the scalp, and as there are generally fewer sensory nerves in the scalp than in the face, it is less painful to inject the scalp. Microneedling has also been shown to help with hair loss by stimulating the scalp and promoting hair growth by increasing blood circulation and delivery of oxygen and nutrients. Skinade helps with strengthening hair and influencing hair growth by supporting the anagen phase (growth phase) of the hair cycle. These various treatments and how they can help will be covered in a thorough consultation with Dr Nandi in clinic.
