Stubborn fat can be a frustrating concern for many people who find that the contouring of their body is not as they prefer, even when they follow a healthy diet and exercise regularly. Aqualyx fat-dissolving injections can be used on many body areas, including under the chin, stomach, waist, back, thighs, hips and knees, reducing fatty tissue to help reshape the body.
Aqualyx fat-dissolving injections contain a compound solution from the deoxycholate group (salt-based acids found naturally in the intestines). When injected directly into areas where unwanted fat is present, the solution will break down the wall of the fat cell and liquefy the fat within it – a process created by Professor Motolese known as Aqualysis™. This treatment permanently destroys the unwanted cells, which are flushed out naturally through the body’s lymphatic system.
As a qualified doctor with 17 years of medical experience, Dr Nandi has the skills and medical knowledge to ensure that the treatment is administered correctly and for the right reasons. Dr Nandi will conduct a thorough consultation to assess your concerns with stubborn fat and ensure that you are suitable for treatment. Treatment involves injecting Aqualyx solution into the areas of concern. Patients usually require between 2 – 4 treatments in total, with a treatment given every 4 – 6 weeks.
Both men and women all over the world have experienced successful results with Aqualyx. As this treatment is designed to eliminate small pockets of fat, it is not recommended as a method for significant weight loss, and patients are required to have a normal BMI before receiving treatment. Fat distribution differs in males and females, so each patient has a different need. Where women will request the use of Aqualyx to sculpt their stomach, buttocks and thighs, men will often ask for Aqualyx to address their stomach and back, as well as to reduce the appearance of gynaecomastia (excess fat in the male chest area).

Am I suitable for this treatment?
Aqualyx fat-dissolving injections are suitable for men and women looking to achieve improved body contouring and get rid of stubborn fat. You will not be suitable for this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Is this treatment safe?
Aqualyx fat-dissolving injections are considered to be a safe method of body contouring. Deoxycholate is found naturally within the intestines and helps the body absorb fat. When this solution is introduced to fat cells, it naturally breaks down the outer membrane and liquefies the contents, which get absorbed by the body and naturally expelled.
Is this treatment painful?
The application of a fat-dissolving injection is relatively quick compared to other treatments in clinic. It is minimally painful. Numbing cream is not usually needed before treatment as it is generally a very well-tolerated procedure.
Are there any side effects or risks?
The side effects from this treatment are mostly mild to moderate redness, tenderness, and swelling in the treated areas lasting a few days, and most people can carry on with their daily activities.
What downtime should I expect?
After treating the area, you should avoid any social commitments for around 1 – 2 weeks to allow for any swelling, bruising and tenderness to settle. Upon leaving The Bloom Clinic, you should usually be able to continue with your day as usual, except for avoiding certain activities and medications, which Dr Nandi will go through with you during the consultation and aftercare.
